What are goods?

Goods are things you have obtained in exchange for money - they could be new or second-hand, and could be bought from a shop or catalogue, at the market or from the Internet. These are all examples of goods:

clothes furniture food electrical items animals

Before you make a complaint about something you have bought, you should check that it qualifies as 'goods' rather than 'services'. For example, if you buy double glazing and it is not fitted correctly, the problem is with the fitting, not with the window units themselves. The fitting is a service and different rules apply.
