auctions
Online auctions have emerged as a great
way to match up things for sale with
people who want to buy.
Rather than
the sort of auctions where famous
oil paintings sell for huge
sums of money, online auctions tend
to be more like a massive car boot
sale where people sell all sorts of
things such as CDs, books, electrical
goods and the entire contents or their
attics. But instead of buying things
for a fixed rate, you bid for them,
using the online auction company’s
website to place your bids.
Downloading music
Downloading music from the Internet
is also a hugely popular way to buy
music these days. All it means is
that instead of buying a CD, the
music is transferred directly to
your computer. You can also buy mobile
phone ringtones in a similar way.
Digital photography
If you have a digital camera and want
to get photos printed, you can often
email your photos directly to the
developing lab rather than having
to visit yourself.
Ticketless travel
Most airlines now allow you to buy
plane tickets online and just
use your confirmation number to check
in at the airport rather than having
an actual ticket. You can also book
hotel rooms around the world and
hire cars in the same way.
